I was told that Adam had asthma when he was 2 1/2 years old. He has been in and out of doctor’s offices and hospitals ever since. Last year was the worst for Adam because he was in ICU on a continuous breathing treatment. They had to watch his heart rate because it was very low due to the medication that was helping him breathe. Adam has come to tolerate the fact that he ends up in the hospital frequently. He likes it when he isn’t treated like he has a disease that will kill you if you come too close to him. He was treated that way one time and he said never again. This happened when a specialist put him in the hospital because his lung function was only 20%. The testing machine was the size of a toilet paper roll. Adam got through that nightmare, but he dealt with it as survivors do. Adam wants to play football sooo bad but he can’t, so with the help of Operation Kidz Komfort they helped him to go see his favorite team play. He received free tickets to see the San Diego Chargers on October 3rd, 2010. Operation Kidz Komfort even gave Adam his own custom Komfort Build~A~Bag with all Charger memorabilia. Shannon arranged for Adam to be transported to the stadium by Chris, who is the owner of DreamMakers Limo Services. The coolest thing for him was having the Chargers Cheerleaders sign a 2011 San Diego Charger’s Calendar. Not only does Operation Kidz Komfort help our children, but they help parents cope with all the emotional day-to-day issues. Shannon has personally given Adam FREE rides to and from his doctor’s appointments and brought us home late at night from his treatments.
THANK YOU and WE LOVE you all.
