The vision for Operation Kidz Komfort started in 2005 when Shannon & Zachary (great-grandson of former Beaumont Mayor Albert Haskell) met. Zach, who was five years old at the time, told Shannon that children like him and his friends are all sick and dying because little focus is emphasized on sick kids like him. Shannon promised Zach that they would start a children’s foundation called Operation Kidz Komfort that would focus on advocacy for ALL CHILDHOOD DISEASES.
Childhood cancer is the leading medical cause of death in children. Every 3 1/2 minutes a parent receives the devastating news that their child has cancer. Zachary happens to be a brain cancer survivor.
With the assistance of many local residents and organizations, such as Little Insurance and WalMart, Operation Kidz Komfort has established itself in Beaumont, California. Its services & programs are designed to assist families during their difficult times.
Children need our support and help (through research, advocacy, services, and programs that are directed towards children’s wellness) so they may continue to heal.
We provide emergency assistance to families immediately following their child being diagnosed. Our experienced caseworkers link families to additional resources to help provide assistance with emotional, financial, and educational support. We have collaborated with resource agencies nationwide who help families with emergency services such as rent, utility bills, family counseling, burial, bereavement, medical supplies, and prescriptions. Operation Kidz Komfort provides rides for kids, gas cards, food baskets, clothing, and care packages for children and their parents during their treatment periods.
Operation Kidz Komfort has assisted many families with healthy children who have been faced with unforeseen circumstances due to the economy. Low income families are not aware of the many resources in their communities. We connect families with these resources to help strengthen families from within.
Operation Kidz Komfort also works with our youth volunteers in their communities as they increase awareness of children’s health.
